Hughes Memorial Cross Country, Hawera

Annual Feilding Moa road trip to the city of Hawera in South Taranaki for this wonderful inter-club cross country event.

The Hawera Harrier Club would like to invite you to compete in the 60th running of the Hughes Memorial Cross Country Race. Come along and run on one of NZ’s best Cross Country courses, enjoy an amazing afternoon tea and hope for one of our great spot prizes. Merit prizes for all ages also up for grabs. The event is on Saturday 2nd June, Queens Birthday weekend, so come along and check out South Taranaki – beaches, mountain trails, Tawhiti Museum (a great museum,near Hawera), parks and pools.
Races for all ages and including an excellent Walk event based on estimated time. The Moa uniform has always been well represented and we gain a fair share of the podium too. .
The Entry fee of $7 is paid for by the club on behalf of members – just one of the many benefits of being a member

Age calculated as of 31 December 2018. e.g if you are 12, but turn 13 before 31st December you will compete in the Under-15 grade

Club uniform must be worn by all competitors.
This year the Hughes Shield will be able to be won by any club (not just Hawera and Energy as it has traditionally been). As well as there is a new shield for the women’s race. This has been donated by our President, Richard Brewer and made by the father/grandfather of some of our members.
Teams of four are required to be eligible for the shield – the fastest four from each club in the U20’s/Snr’s/Masters races will be counted in the team – no need to enter a “team” on paper prior to the race. Teams prizes also awarded in the U15/U18 races.
