2017 ANZAC Relays, Wiritoa Lakes, Wanganui

Our Womens A team got off to a great start in the 4 x 2km relays with Tamara Reed handing the lead off to Tessa Webb. Tessa was being chased hard by Egmonts’ Hannah o’Connor, and with a quick 7:15 lap, retained a narrow advantage for our next runner, Skye Burema. Skye, celebrating her 11th birthday today, ran a gallant 2km, an impressive 1 minute 43 faster than last year, though Egmont relegated us second with to a 17 second lead going into the last lap. Bella Ives finished it off for us, securing 2nd place for the Women, our best placing here for many years.

Results for all our teams are here: ANZAC Relay_Feilding Moa results

The mens race saw six Feilding Moa teams start. Benjamin Wall got the A-team off to a very fast start, 6:17 for the 2km lap and just 5 metres ahead of Jake Jackson-Grammar from PNAHC. Our next runners, Shane Reed, Sam Phillips and Luke Scott all ran better than target though had to settle for a solid 2nd place – again the best performance by a Moa team here for many years.

All up we had 10 run team, 1 walk team (well done Andrew Shelley and Cindy Duker – 4th I think ?) and many doing the scratch races. There was a sea of yellow and black in every race.

Other notable performances included: Lucy Evans, 1 minute faster than last year; Devin Morley, 34 seconds quicker; Luke Scott, 40 seconds quicker; Benjamin Wall 44 seconds quicker and Mike Ives a whopping 1 min 21 seonds faster than 1 year ago.
