Marton to Wanganui Relay
FIVE person team:
Rob Petch, Darren Parlato, Renae Hartley, Rob Dabb and Karl Werner had to each run twice to cover the ten legs.
Rob Petch lead off and was in second place behind Hawera Harriers for most of the first leg until Rob Conder (Wanganui) popped past on the line. Darren Parlato put in a solid 8.9km next leg in 4:17/km but Trentham Harriers also had a strong runner, coming from no where to relegate us to fourth. Renae Hartley had a determined 7.08km, halving the Trentham gap to less than 2 minutes before handing over to Rob Dabb for the hilly 6.93km leg 4.
Rob chewed away at Trenthams heels, getting past them at the bottom of the last ascent to hand Rob Petch a 1:05 advantage for his second run of the day, where he extended the gap by knocking the 4.9km downhill out in an impressive 3:48/km.
Karl was next, and racing 8.4km was a bit of new territory for him – but he acquitted himself well to handover to Renae to tackle the tough Reids Hill. This he powered up and remarked at the finish that “I’m not even puffing”.
Darren revived his legs to complete a solid 5.32km at Fordell before Rob Dabb ran the penultimate 8.74km leg, all the time wondering how close Trentham maybe. He handed over to Rob Petch and Karl to share the final 5.8km. To come in under target time of 5 hours we had 31 minutes up our sleeve. It only took Rob and Karl 22:19, both running their share of the leg under 4min/km – Karls 3:45/km is about as fast as he has ever run! Unofficially looks like 3rd place in the Run teams.

Red Stag Relay, Rotorua
We had three junior and one senior team in this relay through the Redwood Forest at Rotorua. Full results to come but overall highlights were:
- Tessa Webb breaking the Under-19 womens record for the 3200m lap by a massive 26 seconds! She ran it in 10:39, an average pace of 3:19/km and had only 3 of the 70 boys teams in front after the first lap.
- U19 Womens team of Tessa, Kate Wasley, Anika Hamilton and Skye Burema 7th (of 19). A great result for a very young team,
- U19 Men A: Jed Skelton, Brody Morgan, Cooper Hamilton and Merrick Manning also 7th. Our B team were 18th.
- Male supporters team 5 x 5km of Paul Wasley, Brad Pearson, Sean Webb and Peter Blackwood a good fifth place
