Moa Junior Women Win Rotorua Redwoods Relay
The Moa Junior (Under 19) Women’s Team of Tessa Webb, Jorja Bacchus and Shayla Nelley ran brilliantly to win the Rotorua Red Stag relay on Saturday 12 September.
The young team with an average age of just 13 years completed the 4 x 3200m course 1 minute 27 seconds ahead of second-placed Tauranga Girls High School. Due to illness of another member leadoff runner Tessa Webb had to also complete a second lap, doing the 6.4km in a very quick 24.31. Bacchus and Nelley ran strongly to bring the team home from Tauranga GHS with New Plymouth GHS 3rd almost 3 minutes behind Moa.
Alice Meta had a quick run of 14.11 for Moa’s 2nd team, joined by good laps from Isabella Meta, Lara Bacchus and Kate Wasley for 5th place. A 3rd Moa Junior Women’s team was 8th.
The Moa Junior Men’s team of Brody Morgan, Riki Smith, Devon Morley and Jayleb Schwamm came 4th in their race, just 16 seconds away from 3rd place. The Senior Men’s team (Parents) were 8th in the 4 x 5km relay.
