2023 Halcombe Relay results

Another wonderful day at Halcombe on 22nd July with more than 40 teams taking part.

Full results are below including Leg times per team member

This years Halcombe Relay was once again a hit judging by the crowd gathered at the hall afterwards the many smiles abounding. I love the vibe of this event. Newbies turn up wondering what to expect and by part way around the team begins to gel and the friendly banter with other teams ramps up.

Some of this years highlights include
• 45 teams took part. This includes 13 from Feilding Moa, repeat offenders from Wanganui Harriers, Manawatu Striders, 360 Fitness and 261 Fearless
• Newbies such as Achilles Manawatu, 3 teams from NZ defence Force at Linton, and several local Halcombe community teams
• Our race brief forgot to mention the swamp part way around leg 5, cleverly disguised as a grassy parking area. It trapped the Achilles team and nearly swallowed a Dodge Ram. Thanks to local farmer Chirs for pulling them out and too Mark and Waz returning on Sunday morning with a load of soil to repair the ruts and the community relationships
• Watching the kids give it their all for their team.
• The colourful uniforms of the Supermums & Superdads
• The Feilding High youngsters making a valiant attempt to defeat the Teachers team – a couple of well-timed US imports (Tessa and Josh) making the difference for a 2 minute victory for the Teachers
• Another Womens lap record fell to Courtney Fitzgibbon – she shaved a good minute off Lap 3 and now holds 3 of the lap records
• While many team members ran PB’s, some saved their best speed for the sausage roll consumption afterwards
• Scrambled Legs (Linton) predicting 2 hours 15 minutes, and then doing exactly that time! Quite impressive given they had never seen the course before
• Eggsellent all round support from The Girls Gone Wild – thanks team
