Feilding Moa win the Hughes Memorial Shield
For the first time in over 60 years the Hughes Memorial Shield was won by the Feilding Moa Harrier men at Hawera last Saturday.
The shield was contested in the Mens 8000 metre cross country race held across undulating farmland adjacent to the Hawera Showgrounds. Feilding Moa Under-20 men were instrumental in setting up the win with Benjamin Wall, Andre Le Pine-Day and Liam Wall taking the first three places. Club captain Paul Wasley’s 15th place was enough to make certain of the historic win.
Feilding Moa also achieved a clean sweep of the placings in the Boys under-15 4km race to Reuben Duker, Fergus Doolan and Cameron Walker with Awatea Burton fifth equal.

Hawera will host the New Zealand secondary schools cross country championship on the same course in June 2020.
The next Feilding Moa event is the 57th Vautier Cups cross country at Valley Road Colyton on Saturday 8 June starting at 1:30pm. Visitors most welcome. See the club website for full details www.feildingmoa.co.nz
