2nd October Club Relay

Eight teams contested this 6-person relay on the Halcombe course. Conditions were fine but a stiff westerley which mostly impacted Leg 1 and part of Leg 5. Teams started on a Handicap basis, with the Junior Men backmarkers on 50 minutes.

“Women Pink” started off first with a 7 minute advantage over the Masters Women. And they ran superbly to hold the lead right into the final km of the 29.2km journey before Dorota Starzak managed to haul them in. Paul Wasley from the Mens Yellow team was gaining swiftly on the final 4.96km leg to take third place overall

1st Masters Women 2:28:55

2nd Women Pink 2:29:50

3rd Men Yellow 2:30:57

Fastest time of the day went predictably to the Junior Mens team with a good time of 1 hour 43 min 44 sec or an average pace of 3:33/km. Starting 50 minutes behind the Women Pink team, they gathered in over 45 minutes of that deficit.

Fastest women’s team were the Senior Women in 2:08:49 from the Junior Women Purple team in 2:12:53

It is thought a new club record was set for demolishing half a dozen platters of fish bites, chips and sausages at the Halcombe Hotel afterwards.
