6 June Results Thompsons Farm

A brisk windy day did little to deter the enthusiasm of the 130+ runners and walkers who took part in the second cross country event of the season. This is a record turnout to a Feilding Moa club race out of our 81 year history!

Like last week, we ran two identical events with a\12.30pm and 2pm start times to stay under the 100-event rules. With todays wind a virus wouldn’t have got much further than 3cm.

Most people loved the undulating course with what several were heard to comment seemed to have more uphill than downhill

Race Report

The 3.3km girls race at 12:30pm saw a very close finish. Millie Evans winning by just one-second from Mia Thomson.

The boys 12.30pm race was won by Charlie Hook. His time of 15min 10 sec was just ahead of the 2pm race winner, Jacob Lean 15:18 and first-time runner William Kenyon 15:21.

There was some intense sibling rivalry among the Crofskey family with only 25 seconds between Jaime, Fin and Sophie – and Fin out-muscling Sophie to the line by 1 second.

The 6.5km event saw Colt Nelson Doolan annihilate the field in 26:12. Poppy Rae was equally impressive, 5th overall in 28:54 winning the Junior womens grade from Lucy Mclean and Adelaide Roper.

The Womens 6.5km saw another win to Karis Rae, 2 1/2 minutes ahead of Tammy Reed with Wendy Cottrell-Teahan next.

The 9.8km event was a bit of a repeat of last week. The U20 men Sam Phillips and Andre Le Pine-Day lead after the first of 3 laps, but then came Nick Johnston. He gained a 30 metre lead on lap 2, then lit the afterburners through the final lap to a commanding 2 minute gap to Sam and Andre..
