Woodruffe History
Our host farmer is Roger Woodruffe. Roger was just 11 years old when the first Woodruffe Cup took place and first ran for the club when at high school. Roger, 81, continues to run most of our races, as well as being a full-time farmer with three farms to manage. Roger had to wait until 2013 before winning the Woodruffe Cup for the first time.
His older brother, Lawrie, who passed away earlier this year is a Life Member of the club. He won the Cup a record 8 times: 1960,61,62, 64, 1973, 1976, 1986, 1994 – so an awesome 34 year span between his first and last win.
Other multiple winners of the Senior Mens trophy are:
6 wins S Galloway
6 wins Nick Johnston
3 wins Grant Christian, Rob Dabb, Andy Martin, Reg Vautier
